DirectionWanting to know is a unique trait to us humans. This hunger for knowledge extends beyond our physical world to the depth of our own existence.

The question of what is my purpose in life becomes paramount after the  basic needs have been met.

Finding a specific path in life comes naturally to some people. Others spend more time searching for a life purpose and may it find or not.

My Story
I started on what I thought was a clear path. Went to school, got a degree, had a career. A few years later life became a drag. I was naturally good at what I did but I couldn’t bring myself to doing it any longer.

Success is often defined by measurable achievements such as: the amount of wealth one accumulates, breaking athletic records, awards and trophies in art, sports and science. The accomplishment is measured by certain standards of what is considered the best that deserves acknowledgment.

On the surface, it appears that successful people are the minority since the top spots are reserved for a few. If there is more than a few, then the top is pushed up to create a higher threshold.

If we look at success from a deeper level, the level of being instead of the level of just doing, we can have a different standard for measuring success.

Living in the Northwest has its advantages. In general the weather is not too cold and the winters are tolerable.  The downside is:  it can rain non stop for days on end. The gray skies, lack of sunshine and short days usually drag me down. I feel scattered and have low energy levels. My mood changes and my motivation goes downhill.

trust“Give up all bad qualities in you, banish the ego and develop the spirit of surrender. You will then experience Bliss.” – Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The use of the word surrender is usually associated with giving up and weakness. It is the opposite of resistance, which stands for strength and persistence. These prevailing associations can have a detrimental effect on our daily lives. We are not at war every day of our lives.

Why not consider the reverse to be true?

Surrender can be very empowering and resistance can turn the simplest of challenges into a living hell.
